Care Center Ministry 1
Care Center Ministry 2

We are meeting the spiritual needs in 50 different Care Centers across the valley. Those who wish to volunteer for this outreach receive specialized training with our Directors. We work with your schedule and find the right place. This is our local MISSION FIELD! We have many places for many people to use their gifts. It just takes heart to start.

WHEELCHAIR BUS MINISTRY

We have wheelchair-accessible buses that pick up special needs people & elderly every Sunday morning for Sunday School and church. This is the highlight of their week! Volunteers are used for driving and assisting on the buses. Training takes place on the buses.

MEDICAL LENDING CLOSET

A forty-foot storage unit on the property of Phoenix First is full of medical equipment. We provide donated items such as wheelchairs, walkers, canes, bath benches, etc. to those that are in need and cannot afford to purchase them. We depend on donations to supply the need. It’s free and available to our community.

SUMMER GET AWAY CAMP for SPECIAL NEEDS

A Christian based summer retreat experience for people with Special needs. We assist them with their paperwork, scholarships funding and transportation.  We also advocate and mediate between the guests and their care providers. Visit www.specialtouch.org for more information nationally.

SUNDAY UNIVERSITY CLASS

A class for the mentally and physically challenged adults on Sunday morning. It is a unique and fun-loving class with much interaction, teaching, and encouragement along with handouts. We partner with dial-a-ride, caregivers, group homes.

CHRISTMAS GIFT BAGS

We adopt the elderly, special needs, those alone and those who live in Care Centers during the Christmas season. We fill gift bags and deliver them. This project takes all year, we send letters to our community businesses and stores asking for their support. We place boxes for drop off. We power shop for sales. Everyone participates. We distribute 1500+ each year.

Pastor Tommy Barnett states, “This ministry is one of the brightest beacons of light in our church.” Deuteronomy warns of the curses that fall on those that neglect the responsibility to minister to the elderly and infirmed. God’s blessings are assured to those that are His hands extended to these ‘Special People’. Amen! Barnett says, “Sharon is the leading authority on reaching hurting people in wheelchairs, and a wonderful ambassador for Christ. She is one of the greatest Christian workers he has ever seen do anything”.
